A week of French inspired recipes

Christopher:Week two of our themed meal plans and how could it be anything else but French – Widely and quite rightly believed to be the greatest cuisine in the world.’

With Euro 2016 just kicking off in France and following all the excitement from Novak Djokovic finally winning at Rolland Garros it seemed perfect timing for my personal favourite style of cooking. French food is full of rich intense flavours and the seven dishes that I have picked are intent on demonstrating the varying styles from the simple French peasant dishes like ratatouille or croque-monsieur  to the richer dishes like my duck in blackcurrant sauce and vichyssoise.

When you think of French food you may be thinking that its too fancy or complex for home cooking but all the recipes I’ve picked are so simple to make and all made with ingredients from your local supermarket. I’m a little obsessed with the Euros at the moment so I’ve used this weeks recipes as my way of kicking it all off. My little plan is to cook a beautiful three course dinner in the style of the winning nation. Reckon we’ll be having more French food? sauerkraut? pasta? Tapas? Maybe even some Yorkshire puds or bara brith. Well we can all dream….

Bon appetite!
